Today marks the 100th birth anniversary of the illustrious Tollywood actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao ANR, a figure whose contributions to Indian cinema are nothing short of legendary. In a heartfelt tribute, the Akkineni family, along with devoted fans and film enthusiasts, is commemorating this significant occasion through the re-release of ANR’s timeless classics,allowing new audiences to experience his remarkable artistry.
At a special event, Nagarjuna, ANR’s son, shared exciting news: the Akkineni International Foundation has established the ANR National Award to honor the cinematic achievements of individuals within the industry.This esteemed award will be awarded each year to honor individuals for their lifelong contributions to Indian cinema.
This year, the ANR National Award will be presented to the illustrious Padma Vibhushan Megastar Chiranjeevi.Nagarjuna made this announcement during the centenary celebrations, revealing that a grand ceremony is scheduled for October 28, where Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan will present the award to Chiranjeevi.
Nagarjuna expressed the significance of the award, stating, We aim to present this honor every year. When I shared this decision with Chiranjeevi, he was deeply moved and embraced me, saying it was the greatest recognition of his life.
Through these celebrations and the establishment of the ANR National Award, the Akkineni family not only pays homage to their patriarch but also ensures that his legacy continues to inspire future generations in the world of cinema.
